Cambodia’s largest healthcare industry event, Cambodia Phar-Med expo 2015, prepares to open its doors

On the morning of 31 July 2015 at Phnom Penh Hotel, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, The Kick off Conference of Cambodia Phar-Med Expo 2015 was pleased to welcome Ms. Nouv Phalla, Deputy Director of Food and Drug Department, Ministry of Health and Mr. Thorn Meng Long from Cambodia Medical Association together with 30 representatives from companies and organizations who are doing business in healthcare sector, and representatives from 15 local media at the Kick-off Conference.

Following to the success of The International Exhibition and Conference on Pharmaceutical and Medical industry in Myanmar and with the great concern of the related enterprises and the importance of healthcare sector in Cambodia, the organizer– VEAS proudly organize Cambodia Phar-Med 2015. The show is a continuation of our Phar-Med Expo series that VEAS hold in South East Asia.

Co-hosted by Minh Vi Exhibition & Advertising Service Co., Ltd (VEAS) with the strongly support from Cambodia Ministry of Health, Cambodia Ministry of Commerce and Cambodia Medical Association, the first International Exhibition & Conference on Pharmaceutical & Medical Industry in Cambodia (Cambodia Phar-Med Expo 2015) will be held from 14 to 15 September 2015 at Phnom Penh Hotel, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

A country of 15 million people, Cambodia’s 2014 GDP was about $16.7 billion with growth around 7%. As the Cambodian economy develops, healthcare spending has been expanding throughout the country. Though still smaller and more difficult to do business in than many of its neighbors, Cambodia’s medical market is on a positive trajectory that should soon attract more attention from foreign medical device and pharmaceutical companies.
The healthcare market in Cambodia will be worth close to $1 billion in 2015, including a pharmaceuticals market valued at $210 million with double-digit growth. Almost 80% of pharmaceutical sales are in Phnom Penh and the surrounding region, making distribution relatively simple. Approximately 55% of the pharmaceutical market is composed of imports, and there is significant local preference for foreign medicines. Foreign medical product companies have started to take note.

Cambodia Phar-Med Expo 2015 is the largest international healthcare exhibition in Cambodia and will also serve as an ideal platform for international brands to enter the Cambodia Pharmaceutical and Medical industry market. The exhibition is expected to attract 2000 of healthcare professionals and host over 50 of international healthcare suppliers, manufacturers and service providers. Thousands of new healthcare products, equipment and services will be showcased by the main players in the industry.
